Hi! I’m Karen Zornitzer, a local Livingston mom. I moved to Livingston in 2013 and officially launched my business KZ Kreatez Creative Studio in March 2021. It’s been an amazing first year—working with independent, corporate and non-profit clients on their creative projects.
Kids? How many? Ages?
I have 3 kids; a son Zachary who is 4 years old and 2 stepchildren, Jared who is 19 years old and Larissa who is 16 years old.
Where are you from originally and how long have you lived in Essex County?
I grew up in Brooklyn until I was 12 and then moved to Westchester, New York. After college, I lived in New York City and moved to Livingston nine years ago.
Are you involved in a business venture, a local organization, a creative endeavor, or in the corporate world? Please share!
I worked in the corporate world for decades, executing award-winning marketing programs and events for Fortune 500 companies, global media companies and major brands. Yet, while my career allowed me to be creative, I was always working on a side passion project—putting together a custom gift, planning a celebration or hosting a theme party.
I finally took the leap and crossed “launching a creative services company” off my life list and officially introduced KZ Kreatez Creative Studio in March 2021. KZ Kreatez Creative Studio is an events and branding company that offers independent clients, non-profits and corporate partners custom creative solutions. Specifically for events, it is my job to make every party fun, unique and reflective of the honoree’s personality. From custom branding & logo design and invitations to themed favors and cool decor, I design, create and source the perfect touches to turn an event into a celebration to remember. I have also forged partnerships with local party venues to enhance their standard party packages and create one-of-a-kind celebrations.

Best advice you have gotten?
My mom always says “It’s only weird, if you make it weird.” This simple piece of advice has guided me since I was a kid as it can be applied to all aspects of life—relationships, work, parenting…

I’m currently on a kick of watching shows about con artists—Inventing Anna, Tinder Swindler and The Dropout. I’ll be adding some lighthearted shows to my next binge.
Favorite Book You’ve Read in the Last Few Years?
I think all my reading time is now consumed by Wordle, Spelling Bee and the NY Times crossword and Chicka Chicka Boom Boom.
What Are Your Parenting Goals?
I want my kids to be confident, happy and kind. I want them to always be inclusive, empathetic and considerate of others.
