Meet a Mom: Plastic & Reconstructive Surgeon Dr. Jacqueline Ross - Essex County Moms

This story was shared by Greenberg Cosmetic Surgery and Dermatology.

Dr. Jacqueline Ross is a Manhattan-based plastic surgeon and mom to two daughters, Amelia (2) and Oliva (6 months). With a background that includes working as a cardiac ICU nurse before pursuing medical school and plastic surgery residency, Dr. Ross brings a unique perspective to her practice. She provides the highest quality comprehensive care with a remarkable bedside manner. Dr. Ross focuses on enhancing her patients’ natural beauty to cultivate self-confidence and enrich overall well-being. Plus, she does stitches for kids that have had accidents (so many of us have been there!) and provides age-appropriate options for teens and young adults. Read on to learn more about Dr. Ross’s approach and her practice with Greenberg Cosmetic Surgery and Dermatology.

Please tell us a little about yourself.
I was born and raised in Kansas City, MO as the oldest sister to 4 siblings. I relocated to Tampa, FL for my plastic surgery training where I met my husband, who was also in the medical field. We now have two beautiful daughters, Amelia (2 years old) and Olivia (6 months old). We currently live in Manhattan and are enjoying all the excitement of the city, while still finding time to escape up-state for a breath of fresh air and beautiful scenery.

Can you please share a bit about your practice, your background and focus?
My passion for plastic surgery has always centered around helping to restore patients’ self-esteem and confidence, whether their needs are reconstructive or aesthetic. My focus is primarily on breast procedures, body contouring and vaginal rejuvenation

What do you think separates your practice, approach or offerings from others in the area?
Transparency is a value that I bring to every consultation. I’m honest with my patients in how we can achieve their goals together. I also specialize in complex cases which many surgeons prefer to pass on. I am determined and committed to providing the best possible result for each and every patient and can approach the most challenging cases with confidence.

Can you tell us in particular a bit about what you provide for teens and young adults?
The teenage era is already a tremendous period of change for patients, and sometimes physical variants like gynecomastia and macromastia can take an extra psychosocial toll. For these patients, I will offer surgical gynecomastia correction and breast reductions, when indicated, once they have completed pubertal development.

How does being a mom yourself enrich your practice?
Being a mother enables me to connect with my patients on a different level. I can personally relate to others who have experienced physical changes from pregnancy and postpartum. I can also understand the stressors of day-to-day life that my patients are balancing, trying to be a mother while not losing their identity as a whole person. Bringing this understanding to the conversation with my patients helps us to develop goals and a realistic plan together. It also energizes me to be a part of another mother’s journey back to self-confidence and self-actualization.

Anything else you’d like to share?
I started my journey in healthcare first as a cardiac ICU nurse before progressing to medical school and then my plastic surgery residency. I have also been a patient myself, as well as a wife and mother of patients. I have seen healthcare from every angle, and those encounters motivate me to provide the best patient care and experience to every single person who walks through my door. I want to be a positive light throughout the patient transformation.
