We sat down with Odette Falone to talk about motherhood, local family life, and the heart behind Ode to Hope. From quiet moments outdoors to powerful perspective shifts, Odette shares what’s been shaping her life lately and how she’s creating space for connection and hope for other moms.
Essex County Moms: Let’s start with you and your family. Tell us about your crew.
Odette: I’m a mom to two energetic boys, ages 10 and 8, who keep life busy, loud, and full of heart. They remind me daily that joy often shows up in the simplest moments and that laughter really is the best medicine.
ECM: When you’re spending time together as a family, where can we usually find you around Essex County?
Odette: You’ll usually find us outdoors picnicking under our favorite weeping willow in Verona Park, hiking Eagle Rock Reservation in search of creatures under rocks, or strolling through the Presby Iris Gardens with a camera in hand when the irises are blooming.
ECM: You created something really meaningful for other moms. Can you share how Ode to Hope came to be?
Odette: Ode to Hope was born from my own experience navigating breast cancer while raising young children and longing for connection with others who truly understood that chapter. It’s a peer-led support group designed to bring moms together in a calm, compassionate space rooted in shared experience, encouragement, and hope.
ECM: For moms who may be considering attending, what can they expect when they walk in?
Odette: They can expect a calm, welcoming space rooted in connection and shared understanding. Ode to Hope is peer-led and not therapy. There’s no pressure to share, just an open invitation to connect with other moms who truly get it. My hope is that everyone leaves feeling supported, encouraged, and less alone.
ECM: Finally, what’s a piece of advice from another mom that’s really stayed with you?
Odette: One of the best pieces of advice I’ve ever received was, “The amount of good things in your life depends on your ability to notice them.” That perspective has stayed with me through some of the most challenging moments of my life. Learning to notice the extraordinary in ordinary moments has helped me slow down, be present, and recognize how much goodness exists in everyday life.
