Hi! I’m Dr. Kim, a pediatric dentist, founder of Kidz Smile Pediatric Dentistry & Family Orthodontics, and most importantly, a mom of two. My kids are 8 and 4, so our house is always full of energy, noise, and lots of fun!
What does your family love to do around Essex County?
We love being outdoors and taking advantage of everything Essex County has to offer. You’ll usually find us at Verona Park between the playground and walking paths, it’s one of our favorite spots.
What do you love most about living and working here?
The sense of community is really special. I love seeing familiar faces around town, patients, parents, local families, it makes you feel like you’re truly part of something. As both a mom and a business owner, that connection means everything to me.
Tell us about your business. How did it all start?
I started Kidz Smile Pediatric Dentistry & Family Orthodontics with a clear vision: to create a space that feels warm, welcoming, and truly designed for kids and families. As a parent, I know how important it is for children to feel comfortable and even excited about going to the dentist. I wanted to replace fear with confidence and positivity.
What can families expect when they come to your office?
A calm, fun, and supportive environment. We focus on gentle, patient-centered care and really take the time to make sure each child feels safe and understood. It’s not just about great dental care, it’s about creating positive experiences that set kids up for a lifetime of healthy smiles.
What makes your practice stand out?
We’re comprehensive, which means we can take care of everything in one place from cleanings and preventive care to more specialized treatments and orthodontics for kids, teens, and even adults. As a busy mom, I know how valuable that kind of convenience is!
What do you love most about what you do?
Building relationships with my patients and their families. Watching kids grow up in the practice, especially the ones who start off a little nervous and seeing them become confident is incredibly rewarding.
Real talk- what does balancing mom life and running a business look like for you?
It’s definitely a journey. Some days feel seamless, and other days feel like total chaos. And I’ve learned to accept both. I try to stay present wherever I am, whether that’s with my patients or with my kids.
